The KU990 supports DivX video playback – DivX converter software is supplied on a CD. The large screen is a good platform for playing movies or video clips from a card or copied over from a computer. There’s a TV-out mode too but you’ll need to buy the cables separately. The web browser on the KU990 does a pretty good job. It can optimise full web pages for display on a mobile screen enabling you to scroll down the page in portrait or landscape mode.

Stick one in your kitchen and you’ve got a whole AV entertainment centre for when you’re cooking up a big meal for a dinner party or shove one in the kids’ room to keep them happy. The Cube is just as attractive for students living in halls or digs where space is a premium. In this scenario the Cube produced reasonable pictures when hooked up to a 40in Toshiba full HD LCD TV. DVD playback is K but not up to the standard of a good stand alone player. Xvid playback on the other hand is surprisingly good and if you’re looking for something that will playback all your Xvid content from a USB key or external hard drive you could do a lot worse than the LNX Cube.

com (maybe at some point we?ll be able to add our own RSS feeds) and you can get yourself a full profile with added info. Movie trailers are finally going full screen and more codec support for enhanced video (is the 360 getting the same DivX compatibility upgrade as the Media Center Extenders?). Lastly dashboard navigation is said to be easier with dedicated Game Store and Video Store buttons. We?ll find out everything in a few days on December 4th until then we?ll just keep making educated guesses.
