DivX poorly run from the start By Anonymous Coward Posted Monday 25th February 2008 16:15 GMTThe article should have mentioned the conspicuous failure of DivX to become the defacto standard for web-embedded video losing out to Flash. Stage6 failed partly because it was all DivX format. The guys running DivX have done a pretty poor job and lost a lot of mindshare early on with dishonest dealings with the open source community which culminated in the creation of a truly open source rival Xvid. 5 hrs playtimeWeaknesses:picky on dvdr and some retail dvds low res screenverall Evaluation: my first portable dvd player that the main feature I love is out of the box text subtitle support on divx playback just like the way it works on PC. remote control also came in handy because I can watch it from a distance on the 9″ non glare screen. unfortunately the screen this size should have a higher resolution. 480×234 is a bit better than vcd quality and watching dvd is somewhat downgrade the experience. this unit is also picky on the brand of dvdr.
