Review: LG HS102 projector

There are VGA S-Video and via the included adapter component video inputsat the rear of the device. An audio-out socket lets you attach externalspeakers but if you’re only presenting to a small group the in-built 1Wspeaker will suffice. There’s also a USB port that thanks to DivX compatibility allows you toplay video direct from a USB drive. A silver ring around the lens allows for manual focus control althoughthere’s no zoom feature so you have to physically move the projector in order toadjust the size of the display. Like Dell LG has gone for touch-sensitive controls which makes itunnecessarily awkward to operate since you’re forced to keep glancing down atthe buttons to see which one you’re about to press. Traditional physical buttonswould solve this problem. In its favour though the HS102′s buttons are moreresponsive than those on the Dell.

And though we’re not particularly sure the exact target market for this type of device it sure sounds drool-worthy. Ultra-thin plays high-def video on its high-resolution 5-inch touchscreen DivX playback full screen Adobe Flash and so much more. There isn’t a firm release date on this puppy but the start of Q3 2009 can be expected. We’re excited to see if Android can prove its versatility in porting to non-phone devices. If it is going to be a tablet device then so be it.
