Indeed its support for different file formats and easy control scheme makes for quite a great player. As for Windows Mobile users we curse them daily for having phones compatible with TCPMP. Still in case you aren’t happy with either of those players and seek a viable alternative then you might want to check out DivX Player Mobile. Developed by DivX – the guys who invented that lovely codec we all use – the player is a slimmed-down version of the popular desktop client. You will be made to register on the site before downloading the player but you can always circumvent this part since the player is freely available on thousands of pages across the Web. Fully compatible with both touchscreen and non-touchscreen phones the program has surprisingly small keys that can be operated with the stylus or a keypad. We pity the touchscreen users here because it’s quite a pain to access the keys.

The MP3 player Widget is then automatically placed on the main screen. The built-in speaker is excellent although several high tones are lacking as usual. Playing video files is also fine even DivX. If you put an AVI file on the memory card you will be able to watch a movie on the go. The reproduction will automatically change to full screen upon rotating the phone which always worked fine in practice. Furthermore the keys will lock automatically and the movie keeps on being displayed when the phone is closed.

The B5100 appears to be powered by Nokia’s S60 3rd Edition user interface and it looks as though DivX support is also on board. The exterior of the Samsung B5100 looks to be made of metal and it is rumored to feature a built-in GPS receiver along with WiFi and a microSD card slot.

099 billion in 2007. The company’s shares declined 29 percent last year. A similar change happened at DivX a San Diego maker of video-compression software. Based on the criteria set by the board CE Kevin Hell would not have received a full bonus last year. But the board amended the bonus criteria after Yahoo pulled out of an cross-marketing agreement with DivX which reduced the company’s revenue. DivX has sued Yahoo for breach of contract. Hell received a bonus of $429167 equal to his salary.
