Now you can pair your kitchen appliances with the Toshiba Stainless Style model which marries a 19-inch LCD with a DVD player. The slot-loading DVD player support DivX-format discs—a nice touch though I don’t see many Moms burning DivX movies to watch while they cook. Toshiba says the Stainless Style combo unit will ship in September for $349. Will it inspire a rash of stainless-looking TVs?.

This hybrid recorder will allow users to archive their tapes to DVDs in various formats from write-once -R to rewritable -RW and RAM. Like most current DVD players it also plays back JPEG files though support for MP3 and DivX is missing here. While the D-VR8K is definitely a lot less exciting than a spanking new Blu-ray player we cannot comprehend the negativity the recorder has garnered so far. Yes it has only one analog TV tuner according to Akihabara News and no it doesn’t spin Blu-ray like the Panasonic DMP-BD70V DVR. But we’re sure there’s a niche market for this 28800 yen (US$303) Toshiba kit slated for preorder in Japan come August.

Granted the Vaio P is powered by Vista but once Vista installed on the VersaPro we did the same test with the same results. 2GHz Core 2 Duo and 2GB of RAM? Yep you are reading this right the Nec VersaPro VS-7 Netbook that costs twiceas less as a Vaio G2 is capable of handling photos under bridge and PhotoShop CS3 as well as the Sony! Unbelievable!Conclusion: Ultra compact ultra light and powerful the VersaPro for the first time is a computer I love to carry around with me and does exactly what I need when I work on the go. Sure the VersaPro is bit expensive and only available in Japan but the difference in price is REALLY worth your consideration if you’re looking for a business tool? As for basic Email and Web surfing I even think the Versa-Pro is an amazing Netbook I’d recommend it to anyone whose thinking of investing in either an iPod Touch or iPhone since it will give you exactly what you need and fits in your pocket.

Direct iPod control is via the rear USB connector ? offering easy operation either via the VZ509E?s touch-screen or through the iPod itself ? whilst iPod video playback is also possible via the optional CCA723 cable. With the majority of the VZ509E?s features accessed via the fully motorised 7-inch TFT colour LCD touch-screen operation is simplified streamlined and beautifully enhanced thanks to a high-resolution on-screen display and a new graphic IC which allows images to switch more quickly and smoothly whether in full screen or picture-in-picture mode. The VZ509E also offers direct connection ? including touch control ? to the stand-alone NP509E hide-away navigation system at a later date to deliver state-of-the-art voice and high definition map guidance. Bluetooth connectivity is also an optional addition via the BLT373 interface allowing safe access to a number of mobile phone functions.

Akihabara News has published a mini-review of the VersaPro VS-7 and found that the machine was more than capable of handling basic computing tasks including playback of 720p DiVX video.
